New wave of European referee pairs ready for action

Excelling at the challenging new stage of their fledgling refereeing journey, the referees underwent conditioning, rule and English language knowledge testing during the courses.

They also attended lectures on specific refereeing topics and game management tactics, as well as being presented with game tactical information from EHF Coaching Experts. Finally, their performance in match officiating was assessed before they were proposed for being awarded the EHF continental badge.

10 of the 13 pairs were products of the EHF’s Young Referee Programme (YRP), a pathway aiming to monitor and evaluate the performance of young referee talents in their early years.

Handball fans will get used to seeing the newly-qualified referees on the biggest stage, as the EHF Referee Badge allows the pairs to officiate matches at all EHF club and national team competitions.
