Thanks to a double strike of top scorer Marko Eklemovic (seven goals in total), Hungary managed to reach the extra-time. And finally a 4:0 run for the 36:34 decided the bronze final – and made the Hungarians jump for joy. Sunday's victory meant Hungary’s first medal in this age category after winning silver at the M18 EHF EURO 2014 in Poland, when they lost the final against France.
BRONZE MEDAL MATCH
Iceland vs Hungary 34:36 (16:15, 32:32)
- an action-filled first half saw Iceland have a slight advantage at the break, with the help of their powerful attacking trio: Harri Halldórsson, Ágúst Guðmundsson and Jens Bragi Bergþórsson
- Iceland managed to stay ahead for most of the match, but lost control of the game just a few minutes before the final buzzer
- Hungary's goalkeeping pair – Ádám Kristóf Balogh and László Várady-Szabó – showed off their skills in blocking the Icelandic attack, with nine saves each
- Harri Halldórsson led Iceland's offence in the final with eight goals, but it wasn't enough to bring his team the medal
