As with recent seasons, Tuesday night is EHF European League night, with all the matches in the men's competition throwing-off at either 18:45 or 20:45 CEST/CET.
Round 1 takes place on Tuesday 8 October, where plenty of eyes will be drawn to the current title holders, SG Flensburg-Handewitt, who start the defence of their crown at home to MRK Sesvete at 18:45 CEST in group G.
Later that evening, EHF European Cup Men champions Valur make their return to the second tier with a tough trip to the SC Jane Sandanski to face former EHF Champions League winners HC Vardar 1961.
Valur are sure to be in the spotlight in round 2 as well, as they and their compatriots FH Hafnarfjordur will both play home matches in the Kaplakriki hall in Reykjavik on the same evening, against FC Porto and VfL Gummersbach, respectively. With this double-header between four high quality teams, it is sure to be an elite evening of handball in Iceland, and will certainly be a great event to follow.
The real highlights of the later rounds will become known as the story of the EHF European League Men season develops. The sixth and final round of group matches will be held on Tuesday 26 November, after which our 16 main round participants will be known.
With further former EHF Champions League winners THW Kiel and Montpellier Handball, plus recent champions and EHF Finals Men such as Sport Lisboa e Benfica and RK Nexe taking to the court, this season of the EHF European League Men is going to be perhaps the toughest yet and it is no wonder the competition's slogan is "All In - Greatness is Earned".
