Intriguing Iberian derby to decide the M20 crown in Celje

For the first time in the history of Men's 20 EHF EURO we have the same teams in back-to-back finals. Two years ago Spain beat Portugal on their own territory in Porto, and this year both teams secured another mutual final clash in a neutral venue in Celje.

Both teams will be looking for revenge. Portugal haven't forgotten about that loss two years ago, albeit with a different generation back then, and Spain's special incentive comes from losing to Portugal right here in Celje during the main round competition just a few days ago, in what was the best match of the tournament so far.

Denmark and Germany, however, will try to end their participation on a high note by winning the bronze medal.

• In group G of the main round Portugal took both points in a thrilling Iberian derby against Spain, who had suffered their first defeat of the tournament as the current champions (38:37)

How to follow the Men's 20 EHF EURO 2024

Final battles for medals start on Sunday at 18:00 CET in Arena Zlatorog in Celje with Germany and Denmark playing for bronze. At 20:30 Portugal and Spain will begin their gold medal match. Also, final cross matches are to be played earlier in the day, to seal the rankings between fifth and 12th place.
