New training sessions discussing nutrition are now available in the app, with key insights from ambassadors Andrea Lekic, Carmen Martin, Kentin Mahé and Kay Smits, as well as from nutrition expert Maja Ivanovic, who created the training sessions. The sessions offer users the right insights and information on how to establish proper nutrition routines.
Professional handball players dedicate their time to physical exercise to perform at the highest level. However, nutrition also plays an essential part in the physical and mental well-being of athletes, and young players should be encouraged to develop a healthy diet that can sustain all physical efforts.
Following feedback from the RYT participants, nutrition was introduced for the first time in the programme at the RYT Camp 2023. The discussions covered what athletes need to eat before and after training sessions or matches to make sure that they fuel their bodies properly for handball.
Two international handball stars, Kentin Mahé and Kay Smits, have recently joined the RYT programme as online ambassadors and have contributed with tips and tricks on the subject.
The nutrition training area in the RYT App includes the following sessions:
- ‘Fuel your training’ with ambassador Kentin Mahé
- ‘Establish a pre-match nutrition routine’ with ambassador Kay Smits
- ‘Establish a post-match nutrition routine’ with ambassador Carmen Martin
- ‘Optimise hydration’ with ambassador Andrea Lekic
The RYT App is available in the App Store and Google Play Store.
