Portugal will feature at a Women’s EHF EURO final tournament this year for only the second time in their history, and the first time since 2008.

Their return is an important milestone and reflects Portugal’s upward trajectory in women's handball. In the qualifiers, Portugal had two big wins against Finland, two close defeats by Czechia and two big defeats by the Netherlands, leaving them as one of the four best third-placed teams and earning them a golden ticket to Austria, Hungary and Switzerland.
