Over the course of 12 days, Podgorica will be the meeting place for the brightest stars in Europe, who are going to compete in the biggest edition of the M18 EHF EURO so far.
In 2022, Spain secured their place in the history books, as they became the first country to win the EHF EURO in two Younger Age Categories in the same year – M18 and M20. Now, Spain have a chance of replicating their previous success, as they have already managed to defend their title in the M20 tournament earlier this summer.
As we’re preparing to witness the future talents of the sport compete for glory, here are the main things you should keep an eye on:
- it is the second consecutive edition which is held in Montenegro
- after failing to progress from the preliminary round in 2022, the hosts now hope to have a better journey in the competition, but they’ll have to get past Iceland, Faroe Islands and Italy in group F first
- Greece (group A) and Ukraine (group C) make a comeback in the M18 EHF EURO after a 27-year break
- reigning champions Spain share group E with neighbours Portugal, as well as with Austria and Romania, who reached the final tournament after playing in the qualification tournaments
- last edition’s runners-up Sweden hope for another chance at the trophy, as they will face Hungary, Switzerland and Israel in group D
- 2022 bronze medallists Germany were drawn in group B, fighting against France, Poland and North Macedonia in the early stages of the competition
