EHF Statement on Vipers Kristiansand

Over the past week, the European Handball Federation has been following the information and has been in contact with the Norwegian club of Vipers Kristiansand regarding its financial situation.

Following the announcement on Sunday night (20 October), it is with regret that the EHF acknowledges the club’s decision to file for bankruptcy, and we hope that in the process the best-possible solution for the future of the players and the affected staff and club employees can be found.

At the same time, the EHF respects the openness with which Vipers Kristiansand has been informing the EHF about its situation in this past week.

Vipers Kristiansand were registered and admitted to the EHF Champions League Women 2024/25 following the submission of all required documents which included a statement about the club’s financial situation confirmed by the Norwegian Handball Federation. 

The European Handball Federation will discuss the effects of the situation on the EHF Champions League Women with all relevant stakeholder groups.

Any decision will be communicated in due time and ahead of the weekend 9/10 November when the EHF Champions League Women resumes following a three-week break.
