Round 7 of the Machineseeker EHF Champions League 2024/25 group phase started with two thrillers on Wednesday evening: Kolstad Håndbold won the MOTW against Aalborg Håndbold 25:24 thanks to a penalty 15 seconds before the end, and OTP Bank - PICK Szeged beat Industria Kielce 28:27. Also, SC Magdeburg ended their disappointing series (one point in four matches) with a thumping 36:24 win over HC Zagreb.

In the late matches, the two group A leaders added yet another win: Paris Saint-Germain Handball (30:28 against Sporting CP) and Veszprém HC (27:24 at Orlen Wisla Plock) won their last matches before the three-week national team break — but both had a tough fight to gain those points.

Very pleased with this game and the performance tonight. Both teams played one of the best handball in Europe. We were efficient in defence; Sporting CP have a lot of qualities. We should have managed the goal difference better, but it was a top game tonight.

It was an under pressure match tonight. Paris played very well, it’s one of the best team on the continent. We must push more but we played until 60 minutes. People didn’t count on us, Sporting are a family, friends, not only teammates.

Today we played well, but in key moments they showed their experience and quality. Throughout the match we performed well in defence, making it difficult for the rivals to score goals. I have to say that Rodrigo Corrales also made the difference today. With rivals like them you have to play perfectly. I am still satisfied with the work my players are doing. We have to continue our work and believe in what we are doing.

We saw a great game of handball today, featuring teams with two different styles of play. In the first half we played a little slower and in the second half we gave more rhythm to our game. We played very hard and this match could have ended differently. We were fully focused and I am proud of my team for leaving with a set of points.

It was a hard fight, two rough and good defences and two great goalkeepers. We struggled a lot to get the goals today. Aalborg were three goals ahead and they could kill the game, but we managed to keep our attitude and moral and fight all through the game. Proud of the team today!

Disappointed off course, but our fighting spirit was good. The attack was a little bit slow in the beginning, but we changed and made our self some opportunities. It was good defence both ways, and (Fabian) Norsten was good in our goal. It hurts to leave without points today, I think we played well to deserve at least one point. But then again, I think we missed 10 open chances, and then it is difficult to get points.

Both teams needed a win, I'm glad we got it. We know the difficulties of our opponent, nevertheless they fought well, I give them all the credit. We copied our match last December, it happened again, we won again by one goal. I'm proud of the guys!

It often happens that I have to be a good politician, praise the opponents' game, admit that we made more mistakes. This is the case now. As a hot-blooded person, it's better if I just say: congratulations!
Talant Dujshebaev
Head coach, Industria Kielce

I'm incredibly proud of my team for the way we managed to overcome a 4:0 run against us. Unfortunately, we had to make up for more losses, but we played a strong game.

Magdeburg were clearly the stronger team. They played a great game and we gave up too early.
